Finally stopped work for today....really got into it and finished both of the main legs...ribs tomorrow i hope :)

Post Meeting News

So had another meeting with Alan today in which we talked about which direction to take my dissertation in terms of the main theme. He gave me some very useful books and ideas to with the anatomy side of art and using that to prove my thesis. Even more importantly it applied directly to my work and helped me sort out the front arm in concept #1 thats been bugging me. It now looks more like a beasts arm should (Updated Pic Above)....also started the back leg too

Concept #1 Update

Finally got round to doing some painting after my Introduction chapter....didnt go so well though, couldn't get into it for some reason although i did make some progress. Stopping for the night though in case i ruin it.

Laying the foundations

Finally put pen to paper so to speak in terms of actually writing my dissertation. Decided to start with the intro so i can ease myself into it. 100 words done so far hopefully write about 700 more to stick to my target of 800. Hopefully ill get some painting done tonight too, itching to get back to it.

Amsterdam

well currently on the plane waiting to go to amsterdam...hopefully i can get some good artistic inspiration wile im there...doubt it tho lol. Neways bck on friday so no posts until then!

Finished for the nite

Ill be honest played some Bioshock 2 in the middle of this...but i have the flu and needed a break! but heres what i got done this evening along with my new proposal and schedule. Amsterdam will be better now ive done some work :)

Painting Concept #1

Right so thought i would start painting some of this concept before i go to Amsterdam. Here are a few screen snaps of the process in Corel so far :)

Started shading the front claw

Filled in the black horns

Filled in the skin with the paint bucket...base colour only of course

Fill in the outlines with the base colours

Here we are first concept in sketch form...still unsure if i want to finish it or not but ill try it in corel and see how it looks :)

Meeting #2

Ok so just home from my 2nd weekly meeting with Alan. After much discussion ive decided it would be in my best interests to change my idea to something i really want to do as opposed to something i dont care about, thankfully Alan agrees.
The new topic then is "A series of images and production to show that digital painting is indeed a form of art", or something to that effect when i write up my new proposal. Alan also thinks i should accompany my images with some sort of production process like the 1 ive posted here.
Now ive got to make a new proposal, email him my schedule and get working on some fantasy images that i always wanted to do :D

A. Gona cost me a lot of money on books

B. Be a bitch to find the related books

Lets hope Alan has some sort of helpful reading list in 2moro's meeting fingers crossed =/

2nd Day

Well this is an achievement...ive actually stuck at a blog for more than a day lol. Well updates today are still limited..had work so not much done on the dissertation end although i did find 20 odd pdf's on digital painting to have a look at later on. Readitlater could save my disorganized bookmark entries. So if anyone out there has any input or opinions on Digital paintig or art in general feel free to comment all help would be appreciated :).

PS. Maybe i should personalise the layout of my blog to keep even myself interested...ne ideas?

Inspiration

Ok so took Alan's advice and decided to start this blogging crack to keep track of my thoughts and ideas....so here we go (not that anyone but me will ever read this). Discovered Alan had a point when it comes to Firefox extensions over chrome...im sure i could find equally good 1s for chrome however that would take alot of time i dont have at the mo.

Decided it was best to join this as he said...also dwnloaded dropbox seems like a handy little tool too...but the most useful seems to be zotero as i dont have a notion how to reference at all...Anyways point is i am sat here playing the piano looking for some sort of inspiration to start my dissertation on realism in digital painting....oh the joy...and lets not forget...only 10,000 words to go =/...
